Holly is een 15-jarig meisje dat een dodelijke schoolbrand lijkt voorspeld te hebben. Alle ogen zijn op haar gericht. Lerares Anna is geïntrigeerd door het vreemde voorgevoel van Holly en nodigt haar uit om aan vrijwilligerswerk te doen in de rouwende gemeenschap. In this intriguingly sparse metaphysical drama from Fien Troch, a 15-year-old schoolgirl Holly (Cathalina Geeraerts) wakes up to an oppressive sense of dread on an otherwise unremarkable morning. She somehow knows that “It's a bad, bad day” and calls in sick at her inner city secondary school. After Holly seems to have predicted a deadly school fire, all eyes are on her. Her teacher invites her to volunteer in the grieving community. Holly gives peace, warmth and hope. Soon people start demanding more and more of her.
With her fifth film, Fien Troch (Home) confirms her status as a filmmaker with a very distinctive voice that is recognized both in Flanders and far beyond. In her characteristically sensitive style, Troch once again turns her gaze to the world of young people growing up. Holly tells a gripping story about growing up and finding your place in society, this time with a fascinating, mysterious edge. The film had its world premiere in the Official Competition of the Venice Film Festival, where lead Cathalina Geeraerts won the Prize for Best Acting Performance.
